Patch! Microsoft's 80 Active Security Flaws
Bottom line: Make sure your device is turned on and connected to your company's network at least once every 30 days to receive security patches, then leave it connected so the entire update has time to deploy. Patches are sent out at least once per month but more frequently in critical cases.
This past Tuesday, which was Patch Tuesday for March 2023, Microsoft released a massive set of security patches to remediate 80 known security flaws.
Of the 80 - 8 were rated Critical, 71 Important and 1 Moderate in severity.
2 of these vulnerabilities are currently under active attack: the Microsoft Outlook privilege escalation flaw and the Windows SmartScreen security feature bypass.
Other major software vendors that released patches this month:
Adobe, Android, Apple, Aruba, Cisco, Dell, Fortinet, Google Chrome, IBM, Lenovo, Linux distributions, Mozilla, Firefox and Thunderbird, NETGEAR, Samsung, SonicWall, Sophos, Zoho and Zoom.
An unpatched device can cause extreme hardship for you and your organization. Be sure to connect your device(s) to your network frequently to receive the most recent patches.
